Amazon is set to launch a larger screened Kindle. Reports from those briefed on the matter note that the device may be unveiled during an Amazon press conference at Pace University in NYC on May 6th. The new version of the Kindle, which is expected to be tailored for digital newspapers, may be partnered with content from the New York Times and other major newspapers.

The Supreme Court has asked the Third Circuit Court of Appeals to take its ruling on the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction case into “further consideration.” The appellate court recently ruled that the FCC was wrong in fining CBS for broadcasting a brief glimpse of nudity. If the Third Circuit court rules in favor of CBS once again, the case may end up in the Supreme Court again, along with the FCC vs Fox case, over vulgarities Nicole Richie said during an award ceremony.

Research in Motion’s BlackBerry Curve outsold Apple’s iPhone in the first quarter. Analysts believe that Verizon Wireless’s buy-one-get-one BlackBerry promo helped account for a high number of units sold for the Curve, as well as the Pearl and Storm, which finished third and fourth, respectively. The Curve also benefited from being available on four different major US carriers.

Microsoft’s online advertising division has signed an “exclusive online portal” partnership with Brand Affinity Technologies. The goal of the deal is to expand Microsoft’s online advertising initiatives by making use of BAT’s celebrity product pitches. BAT, which has a roster of 2,000 celebrities and athletes, let’s advertisers pay to use celeb’s on a CPM basis, helping make celebrity appearances in commercials feasible for small businesses.

Nielsen is reporting that DVR’s are in roughly 31% of US households. In addition, Nielsen said that users are watching more episodes of highly rated programs than regular viewers.
