The U.S. Government Gets Real
The U.S. government has a new service that provides citizens with real-time updates and alerts. From the new USA.gov website, users can customize the types of alerts they wish to receive by selecting from 6,2000 different topics and 144 federal agencies. Whenever new information is published users will receive instant updates via RSS, email or text messaging.

iPhone Users Would Dump AT&T for Verizon
Nearly half of all U.S. iPhone users are unhappy with their service at AT&T and would happily switch to Verizon, according to a new report from Deloitte. However, according to AT&Ts Chief Executive, Randall Stephenson, 80 percent of AT&T’s iPhone users are on a family plan or have their phone paid for through work, making it difficult and costly for users to switch carriers if the iPhone becomes available at Verizon.

RIM Tablet An iPad Killer?
Research In Motion may unveil its first tablet computer as early as next week, according to sources close to the project. RIM, the company that makes BlackBerry devices, is scheduled to release its tablet computer sometime in the fourth quarter. The tablet code-named, “BlackPad,” reportedly features a 7-inch touchscreen and either one or two built-in cameras. It’s currently unknown where the tablet will be sold. How will RIM’s tablet fare in the crowded tablet market? We’ll know the answer shortly.

Watch TV on the Subway
Television screens have been placed in subway cars on the shuttle trains from Grand Central to Times Square in NYC. The M.T.A. is trying to increase revenue by offering advertisers the chance to play video in the trains. The M.T.A. is currently testing the system with TBS and has placed four, 10-inch video screens in each car. The cable network is playing highlights from the MLB postseason to promote its coverage of the upcoming playoffs.
