The Tribune Corporation recently announced that it’s working on its own tablet for disseminating its nationwide newspapers. The company hopes to offer the tablet for free with the purchase of extended subscriptions to publications. As one of the biggest U.S. news agencies, the move would be a significant push towards digitized newspapers. In other news, Facebook recently launched a standalone-messaging app for iPhone and Android devices. Users can log in to Messenger using their Facebook credentials and chat with friends or groups of friends on the go. The app puts all of your messages in one place, so you can view your chat history on the computer as well. And finally, Apple momentarily surpassed Exxon as the world’s largest company, breaking Exxon’s five-year streak at the top. The volatile nature of the market put Exxon back on top, but both companies currently hover around a market cap of $350 billion.
