Sony PS Vita TV to Steer Clear of US, Europe

When sony announced the PlayStation Vita TV, it seemed like it could very well have become a device to transform the video game and set-top streaming markets both. The diminutive device was going to be a video-streaming, game-playing, PS4-mirroring wonder not quite like anything we’ve ever seen before. It was going to play PlayStation Vita games and Playstation One games using the new Dualshock controller for the PS4. It was going to stream movies and TV shows from your favorite services. It was going to link to your PlayStation 4, and it was going to cost only around 100 bucks… and it still will — just not anywhere in Europe or North America. That’s according to Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Andrew House — who said there were no plans to bring the device across the sea. It seems Sony is worried that the market for streaming-devices in the US is already entrenched and at capacity. The again, if it takes off in a big way, Sony might just have to rethink its plans. We’re keeping our fingers crossed.
