Shelly Palmer Radio Report – October 4, 2013

If you want to get rid of your iPhone for another smartphone, Microsoft has a deal for you. The company recently launched a buyback program that offers up to $350 back when you trade up from an old device and buy a new Windows Phone or Surface tablet. The program lets you trade in iPads, iPhones, Samsung devices, BlackBerry phones and more. The trade-in is done through a third party, Clover Wireless, which mails you a prepaid Visa gift card after you send Clover your old device. With the iPhone 5s and 5c having just launched, the value of your old iDevice is going to continue to go down the longer you wait. While Microsoft’s trade-in program may be convenient if you plan on upgrading to a Windows 8 device, the trade-in value of an iPhone 5 is nearly $100 less than you’d get at an Apple or Best Buy store. Before you trade in your device anywhere, figure out where you’ll get the best value.
