A Conference I Would Personally Like To Attend

If you wanted to, you could attend some kind of trade event every few days. There are so many. How do you choose the conferences you “must” attend?

I asked myself this question hundreds of times as we were programing our upcoming 7th Annual Media Technology Summit. Looking over the agenda, it’s a conference I would personally like to attend, and I think you will like it too.

This year, we will focus on the “new” media landscape. It’s “new” because of M&A activity, new business models, new technologies, new platforms, new paths to purchase and new consumer experiences.

You can expect extraordinary guests, presenters and panelists combined with a highly curated networking experience. And, there will be a few surprises as well.

I’ll discuss the “adapt or die!” mantra with Frank Cooper, Chief Marketing Officer, Global Beverages Group – PepsiCo; Irwin Gotlieb, Global Chairman – GroupM; Linda Yaccarino, President, Advertising Sales – NBCUniversal.

Kevin Jonas, Musician & Actor and Co-Founder of SnapDash, is going to talk about Snapchat metrics and what “engagement” really means.

We all know that when we get to use an awesome service like Facebook or Google for free, that it’s not really free; we pay for the service with our data, and “we” are the product. But there is way more to the story. David Kenny, Chairman & CEO – The Weather Company; Lisa Caputo, EVP & Chief Marketing Officer – Travelers; and Phil Wiser, Chief Technology Officer – Hearst will talk about how the collect and use that data with Lauren Wiener, President, Global Sales and Marketing – Tremor Video.

Will we ever run out of bandwidth? President, Consumer & Mass Business Markets – Verizon, Bob Mudge‘s answer may surprise you. It surprised me.

From my perspective, the whole day is about consumers in control, and I’ll facilitate a discussion with Todd Tillemans, President, Customer Development – Unilever; Jon Werther, President, Digital – Meredith; and Ben Tatta, President, Media Sales – Cablevision about how brands, publishers and distributors deal with their ultimate bosses: consumers.

Can analytics turn data into a new currency? Alton Adams, National Lead, Customer Strategy & Growth Group – KPMG will discuss consumer marketing technology with John Honeycutt, Chief Technology Officer – Discovery Communications; and Deepa Sureka, GM & SVP, North America, Marketing – Rakuten.

Is context king? And, if so, do audiences rule the castle? Howard Mittman, Vice President & Publisher – GQ will help Larry Kramer, President & Publisher – USA Today; Adam Singolda, Chief Executive Officer – Taboola; and Kyle Sherman, EVP, Home Team Sports – FOX Sports explore the issue.

Allie Kline, Chief Marketing Officer, AOL Platforms – AOL; Danny Bernstein, Global Head of Integration Partnerships – Google; and Lee Bushkell, VP & GM, PGAtour.com – PGA will discuss the convergence of mobile and online.

Then we’re going to take a close look at the categories that do the best job leveraging television, Scott Zakheim, Associate Partner – Landmark Ventures will try to get Joan Gillman, EVP & Chief Operating Officer – Time Warner Cable Media; and Calum Smeaton, Chief Executive Officer – TVSquared to talk about sex, drugs, money & fast cars.

We’ll also go deep into programmatic. Bonin Bough, Vice President, Global Media & Consumer Engagement – Mondelez; Kristen O’Hara, Chief Marketing Officer, Global Media – Time Warner; and Shawn Riegsecker, Founder & Chief Executive Officer – Centro will talk with Brett Wilson, Chief Executive Officer – TubeMogul and offer insights into how they are using programmatic tools now and what changes they see coming.

These are just a few of the discussions and presentations you will experience at our 7th Annual Media Technology Summit. It is a meticulously curated gathering of global trailblazers, innovators and investors. Each year, we bring together our exclusive global networks of Fortune 500 executives, venture capitalists, entrepreneurs and luminaries; to do business at the nexus of content, hardware, software and brands. It was built to be a conference that I would like to attend. I hope you will attend too. BTW, if you’ve read this far, email me for a discount code – you deserve it!
