TURNER (NYSE: TWX) is uniting its web properties to form a brand- friendly ad network. The media conglomerate will offer advertisers a choice of video and display ads available on their nineteen web sites, including CNN.com, NBA.com and PGA.com. The move is part of a digital sales overhaul in which the company will abandon third party ad networks.

INTEL (NASD:INTC) will re-enter the mobile phone market. As smart phones become more like computers, Intel, which has an 80% share of the PC processor market, believes its expertise with processors will help them in the smart phone market. However, while its new Atom chip is set to roll out an upgrade in late 2009, competitors say that the Atom will only give users roughly 4-6 hours of HD-video playback on a single battery.

In other mobile device news, NVIDIA (NASD: NVDA) will announce its plans for its first chips designed for mobile internet devices (MIDs) this afternoon. The manufacturer described its new Tegra chips as a “computer on a chip” which it estimates will be able to play up to 26 hours of HD-video on a single battery change on a MID. Nvidia’s move into the MID market comes on the heels of competitors like INTEL, SAMSUNG and QUALCOMM’s (NASD: QCOM) decision to move into the emerging market.

The DISH NETWORK (NASD: DISH) and ECHOSTAR (NASD: SATS) are suing TIVO (NASD: TIVO) over comments the digital video recording company made about the Dish Network infringing on its patents. The lawsuit comes after an appeals court upheld a decision that ruled the firms had to pay Tivo $74 million in patent-infringement damages. The latest round in this legal battle could benefit TiVo, who recently posted a first quarter profit, if a judge orders an injunction against infringing digital video recorders.

ADOBE SYSTEMS (NASD: ADBE) will launch a new version of its sharing software Acrobat today which will allow users to include Flash-based videos in PDF documents. The new version of Acrobat, which repackages documents so they can be read on different operating systems, will enable users to spice up Power Point presentations by making audio and video a part of the equation.

DISCOVERY COMMUNICATIONS will launch PlanetGreen this week. The niche eco-channel already has major advertisers like GM (NYSE: GM) and SC JOHNSON in line, which hope to capitalize on branded green initiatives. PlanetGreen believes its fresh niche will help re-focus buyers on the quality of targeted ads, over the quantity of ads catered to light viewers.
