The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is considering expanding the amount of URL suffixes. The new guidelines could create new suffixes such as .lat for Latin countries, as well as suffixes in native languages. The ICANN overhaul would be the first large scale change in the internet’s address system since its creation.

INTEL (NASD: INTC) has decided not to upgrade its system to operate on MICROSOFT’s (NASD: MSFT) Vista. An Intel staffer noted that Intel “found no compelling case for adopting to Vista.”

RESEARCH IN MOTION’s (NASD: RIMM) profit and revenue more than doubled in the last year. RIM earned $482.5 million during the first quarter, compared with $232.2 million a year ago. RIM added 2.3 million new subscribers in the first quarter, bringing its total subscribers to over 16 million.

GOOGLE (NASD: GOOG) will name BELL CANADA exec Patrick Pichette as its new CFO as former CFO George Reyes steps down. Under Reyes tenure at Google the company’s revenue increased from $439.5 million to $16.6 billion in five years.
