In a letter to the Energy & Commerce Committee, FCC Chairman Michael Copps said that 61% of television stations should be able to turn off their analog signal before June 12 without interference. Copps also believes that many of the additional 700 stations could also do the same. The House is set to vote on amended the DTV Delay bill today.

Disney’s net income slid 25% during the first fiscal quarter, which ended December 27, 2008. The Mouse noted that DVD sales, a key sales indicator, fell significantly during the holiday season. The street did not respond well, as shares of Disney fell below $20 in after hours trading.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Ticketmaster and Live Nation are close to a merger. A merger would form one the most powerful conglomerates in the music industry, giving Live Nation Ticketmaster the ability to manage everything from artists to concert promotion to ticket sales and even venue ownership. Any deal would be subject to scrutiny by the Department of Justice, as the two would have a near monopoly over the concert business in North America.
