Online advertising revenue in the U.S. reached an all-time high of $6.2 billion in the second quarter, an overall increase of 14 percent. While search ads are still the leading source of revenue for online advertising, digital video ad revenue increased 31 percent. The consumer-packaged goods and pharmaceutical industries are also spending more money advertising online.

The Silicon Valley app developer Ngmoco is being acquired for $400 million. The deal is one of the largest involving an app developer to date. The Japanese social gaming company, DeNA, is purchasing Ngmoco to increase its presence in the rapidly growing area of social gaming on mobile devices.

When The Gap clothing company attempted to update its 20-year-old logo, angry customers bombarded the company on Facebook and other online platforms to voice their dislike for the new logo. The Gap responded by encouraging users to develop a new logo, but had no success there either. As a result of the Internet outcry, The Gap has decided to stick with its original logo.
