New Technology Lets the Blind Drive

A tactile imaging system was installed in a Ford Focus, allowing the legally blind Mark Riccobono, to drive for the first time. The Blind Driver Challenge was created to develop technology that would convey real-time information on road conditions to the driver. Riccobono showed off the technology by successfully navigating around the Daytona International Speedway.
