A recent study by the Ponemon Institute found that the majority of data breaches were due to negligence on behalf of employees. Over 51 corporations from diverse industries were analyzed and while negligence was the biggest factor, cyber crime is quickly becoming worse. An average data breach costs companies $7.2 million.
