Ukrainian citizens and refugees are in dire need of supplies, food, and shelter. The most efficient way to help is to donate money to accredited charities that have organizations on the ground in the region. The social responsibility team at NBCU has put together a list of 11 verified charities. Please use the links in the article or type the URLs directly into your browser.
As always, an emotional crisis brings out the very worst hackers, scammers, and social engineers. Do not click on links to charities in emails or on social media. Check that you are at the correct URL. Google the name of the charitable organization. Visit their website. Check out the charity on Charity Navigator or CharityWatch or the BBB Wise Giving Alliance websites.
If you want to go deeper, find out if the charity is registered by your state’s charity regulator. Lastly, if tax deductibility is important to you, look up the charity in the IRS’s Tax Exempt Organization list.
