Objective Reality

I feel like I am living in an alternate universe. Every statistic shows the number of hospitalizations and confirmed cases rising, yet about half the people I speak to and about half the news I read says the opposite.

There is a simple truth about team building: to build a team, you need a common goal. If we can’t agree on the numbers, we either need better numbers or we need to understand why half of us see them differently than the other half.

Ordinarily, this would not be news. People make numbers “say” what they want them to say all the time. It’s so common that there’s usually no reason to bring it up. In this case, though, the lack of agreement on objective reality will not only be economically devastating — it has objectively measurable deadly consequences.

I am not looking to fix the blame. I’m interested in fixing the problem. Your thoughts are welcome.
