Apple has been awarded a patent for inventing a way to use AR or VR headsets (glasses) to project images directly onto your retina.
Why is this a big deal? While statistics vary by study, approximately 30% of people cannot wear VR or AR headsets without suffering side effects such as eyestrain, headaches, or (in some cases) nausea. This happens because current VR and AR systems do not accurately match the projected depth of virtual environments with what the user’s brain is expecting.
Apple’s invention solves this problem and paves the way for some very useful eyewear. Get ready for a motion sickness-free ride through the metaverse.
