Holly+, the AI-generated digital twin of experimental musician Holly Herdon, does a pretty good job singing “Jolene,” Dolly Parton’s country classic.
Along with her partner Mat Dryhurst, Herdon developed Spawn, a singing neural network, for her last album Proto. She released Holly+ (in partnership with Never Before Heard Sounds) to the public last year, allowing anyone to use a model of Holly’s voice on their projects.
Herdon’s release of “Jolene” was created using only AI-generated vocals. Have a listen. If you want to learn more about how it’s done (or if you want to go deeper into the tech), check out Spawning.
In case you’re wondering: I’m not affiliated with this project in any way, but I’m going to reach out to them; I love where this is headed and I’m super curious about it.
