Did you see a lot of spam on Snapchat over the weekend? The company acknowledged the increasing amounts of bogus messages in a blog post on Monday, but says the unwanted Snaps are unrelated to the Find Friends security breach last month. It also offered a quick fix for blocking spam from your feed. If you haven’t already done so, all you have to do is load up the app, tap on settings, and under ‘Who Can…’ make sure that “Send Me Snaps” is set to “My Friends.” This will block messages from random spammers. Just keep in mind that you’ll also be blocking Snaps from anyone else that isn’t on your friends list. This isn’t the first time Snapchat has had to address the issue of spam, though I imagine there’s increased sensitivity around the issue after 4.6 million usernames and phone numbers were recently compromised. Snapchat apologized for the increased spam, saying “it is the consequence of a quickly growing service.”
