Verizon WirelessRootMetrics’ National RootScore Study — a look at the four largest U.S. wireless providers — was released on Wednesday and awarded top honors to the Verizon Wireless network. Verizon Wireless took down the Overall Performance Award Winner in the national study and tops in 4 sub-categories (reliability, data, call and text). Verizon was also crowned the best in New York State overall — and specifically for data and reliability.

As a bit of history, Verizon Wireless introduced its 4G LTE network in the New York Metro Region in 2010, and invested $9.4 billion in its wireless network alone during 2013. Of that $9.4 billion, Verizon invested more than $400 million in network enhancements in the New York Metro Region to make sure customers in NY and NJ have access to a strong, reliable network

Back in December, Verizon Wireless won the Root Metrics award for top data performance as well as top combined network performance in the New York Metro Region for the fifth consecutive study. Verizon began deploying AWS spectrum to meet added data capacity in various markets and more than 5,000 cell sites in cities such as New York are already helping keep Verizon the most reliable network.

(UPDATE: J.D. Power and Associates recently released its 2014 Wireless Network Quality Study, Vol. 1, naming Verizon Wireless the network quality leader in all six regions of the U.S., including the New York Metro region.)
