Shelly Palmer Radio Report – May 26, 2014

Microsoft has tried to sell its Surface tablet as a more complete PC than Apple’s iPad. But Microsoft has moved on from that battle with the unveiling of its new Surface Pro 3 tablet, and is instead taking aim at Apple’s MacBook Air. Microsoft’s newest Surface, which it says can replace your laptop once and for all, is now bigger than ever. The Surface Pro 3 has a 12-inch screen, which is about an inch-and-a-half bigger than earlier models. But the device is also lighter than it’s ever been, weighing in at less than two pounds. Microsoft also unveiled new Surface accessories, including a Type Cover that comes with a much larger trackpad and also provides increased sturdiness by magnetically sealing itself to the screen. The Surface Pro’s stylus also got an upgrade, and can now launch OneNote with the click of a button at any time – even if the Surface is powered off. Pre-orders for the Surface Pro 3 are available now, starting at $799 for the entry-level Intel Core i3 model.
