Netflix must really love Adam Sandler: The video subscription service announced late Wednesday that it has acquired the exclusive worldwide rights to four upcoming movies produced by and starring Adam Sandler. One of the reasons for the unprecedented deal cited by Netflix is his global appeal. “He is among the few actors in the world whose films consistently rank among the most viewed by Netflix members in the U.S. and across its global territories from Brazil to the U.K.,” Netflix’s press release reads, adding that Sandler’s films have thus far grossed more than $3 billion worldwide. Netflix’s announcement comes just two days after the company revealed a deal for a sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, which the streaming service will start streaming on the same day as its theatrical release via IMAX.
