Anthem

New York, NY — The opening of the Parsons Dance Company at City Center on May 5, 1998 launched Shelly Palmer’s spectacular score “Anthem” which clearly emerged as the highlight of the evening. The celebrity audience included Michael J. Fox, star of “Spin City” (Palmer composes and produces the music for the show), his lovely wife, Tracy Pollan, Alan Ruck, Lee Radziwill, Caroline Bessette Kennedy, Herb Ross, Marge Champion, Wendy Wasserstein and Rex Reed.

A tremendous amount of press coverage applauded Shelly’s magnificent symphonic composition including New York Post columnist Clive Barnes’ who wrote, “Anthem, beautifully danced and set to a rousing score by Shelly Palmer …” and Newsday columnist Valerie Gladstone’s comment “The commissioned score beats Titanic for sheer sweeping drama.”

Massive media attention also included a star-studded review of the evening’s magic and festivities following the performance at the Supper Club in the Daily News’ Rush & Molloy, Women’s Wear Daily, and New York Post’s Neal Travis who sums it up simply by saying that two-time ASCAP award-winning “… composer Shelly Palmer is on a roll.”
