During his weekly video address, President Obama named Aneesh Chopra the United States first Chief Technology Officer. President Obama noted that Chopra, who has served as Virginia’s secretary of technology, along with Chief Information Officer Vivek Kundra, “will promote technological innovation to help achieve our most urgent priorities — from creating jobs and reducing health care costs to keeping our nation secure.”

Zac Efron’s 17 Again was the top earner at the box office this weekend. The Warner Brothers-New Line movie took in an roughly $24.1 million, 8 million less than Disney’s Hannah Montana: The Movie took in last weekend. While tween-age films have been hot in the States, Fast and the Furious once again took home the international box office, bringing its worldwide tall to $281.7 million.

Sources say that Hulu is hard at work developing an iPhone application. The NBCU-Fox joint venture’s application will apparently run on both 3G and wireless networks. It has yet to be determined what platform the video files will be delivered in, as the iPhone is not capable of running Flash based video.

According to Newsweek, Apple’s iPod touch and iPhone have become essential tools for soldiers in combat. Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan have been using applications on the handheld device to translate local speak, as well as stay connected to other troops electronically while in the field. Like they say, there truly is an app for everything.
