Vonage

While a lot of the calls we make may come from our mobile devices, home phone lines still hold many of our most important calls. Vonage recently announced that its customers can now make and receive unlimited nationwide and international calls with their home phone service anywhere they are through their smartphone.

The inbound calling function is now standard on all Vonage home plans as part of the Vonage Extensions App. It allows shared use of a family’s home phone identity, and calls made to the home phone number also ring on mobile phones at the same time, so anyone in the household can take important calls from doctors, children’s schools, home improvement professionals, friends, family… or whomever may be calling.

There’s no confusion with this app, either; inbound calls indicate the call was made to a user’s home number, while outbound calls are displayed with the home caller ID. This helps you stay in touch but also keep your mobile number private, giving you more control over when, how and where you communicate.

To take advantage of this added benefit, residential service customers simply download the Extensions app to an iPhone or Android. Once installed, calls to a customer’s number will ring on up to two mobile phones, and users can make and receive calls anywhere there is Wi-Fi or a 3G/4G connection.
