A new study by the National Resources Defense Council reveals that our cable tv set-top boxes are sucking up electricity even when not being used. The units are using more power than energy-rated refrigerators, and it’s costing cable customers over $3 billion a year. This massive waste of money and energy is due to poorly designed boxes now sitting atop more than 160 million homes in the United States alone. Read the full study at NRDC.org
